Palex has given the National Federation of ALCER Associations a donation of €10,000 to improve the temporary accommodation service for haemodialysis patients in Madrid.

This is one of the donations included within the “Further We Go” challenge in which Palex employees demonstrate their solidarity and commitment by walking, pedalling and swimming for different causes.

Thanks to this collective effort and the 5,514.37 kilometres covered in the challenge's latest edition, ALCER will improve the temporary accommodation service for families and children dealing with kidney diseases and who travel to the capital to receive the following forms of medical care:

- Assessment of a living-donor kidney transplant.

- Training in home dialysis.

- Surgery or urgent care owing to their kidney disease.

The funds will be used to renovate the space and update the furniture, with special attention paid to making it “friendlier” for children with chronic kidney disease. The goal is to create a welcoming, secure environment that contributes to the well-being of patients and their families during their stay in Madrid.

In this regard, Joan Revenga, Sustainability Manager at Palex, has highlighted Palex's commitment to the community through initiatives like this. “This donation to the National Federation of ALCER Associations is a significant step towards improving quality of life for people dealing with challenges related to kidney disease. We're committed to supporting initiatives that make a positive difference in people's lives.”

Daniel Gallego, President of the National Federation of ALCER Associations, expressed his gratitude to Palex for its generous contribution: “We're extremely grateful for the solidarity shown by Palex. Not only will this donation improve our facilities, but it will also have a direct impact on the quality of life of the patients and their families who trust in our temporary accommodation service.

The symbolic handover of the €10,000 cheque took place on 16 January at ALCER's head office and involved representatives from Palex and the National Federation of ALCER Associations.
